Sefton Local Safeguarding Children Board.
Welcome to the Sefton Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)
webpages. The LSCB is the key mechanism for agreeing how the
relevant organisations in the borough will cooperate to safeguard
and promote the welfare of children in Sefton, and for ensuring the
effectiveness of what they do. Its purpose is to co-ordinate and
ensure the development of services so that children are:
- protected from abuse, neglect and ill treatment;
- supported in their care when vulnerable; and
- provided with a safe environment so that they can make the most
of the opportunities available to them
While the central concern of Sefton LSCB is to ensure that
children and young people are protected from harm and neglect, it
is also developing its work in meeting its wider safeguarding
responsibilities, to provide a safe environment in which children
can thrive.
Sefton LSCB became fully operational as a statutory body on
1st April 2006, replacing the ACPC, and having a far
wider remit than its predecessor, which includes rail and road
safety for instance.
If you are concerned that a child is at risk of
harm, advice about child protection services and processes can
be found on the Every Child Matters
website.
If you require further information, please contact
Clare Lawson, LSCB
Business Manager, or Donna Atkinson, LSCB
Administrator.
